On northern lakes, there's a period early in spring when the snow and ice begins to slowly melt. Pools of water collect on top of the ice and sometimes create new shorelines. The landscape is still predominately winter, but the end is in sight. This painting illustates that special season.
Aux lacs du nord, à chaque année, revient une période au début du printemps lorsque la neige et la glace commencent lentement à fondre. Des étangs d'eau se forment sur la glace et forgent de nouvelles plages. Ce paysage hivernal aboutira bientôt à sa fin. Cette peinture interprète cette transition entre deux saisons.
